62 Starfire firewall grommet

Does anyone make a grommet similar to this one for my 62 Starfire firewall. This one is as hard as a rock and I don't think that it will slip into the firewall hole.

Not that I am aware of. I believe it is the same as the f-85 of that year. Mine was hard but luckily it was still good enough to get it back in and not brake. There is a metal core to them if it is like mine was. I had to lube it really good to make it work. Is there a flat side to the hole in the firewall?

Yes, flat side at the top. I'll grease her up, close my eyes and push. Thanks

I had to put a long pry bar on it and tap it with a hammer to get it popped in.

Did the hole for the wires tighten up when installed

I had the wire already in the grommet when I installed it but the harness fit a little loose in mine. It originally had lots of gummy sealer around the wire and all around the grommet.

Firewall grommet

Yes, I checked all the suppliers that I know off. The grommet is a weird shape, no wonder no one has reproduced it.
