61 Olds Alternator brakets
61 Olds Alternator brakets
I am thinking about replacing my generator with an alternator. Has anyone done this? I have the brackets from a 63 but pulleys do not line up. Any thoughts?
Thanks

According to the parts book , some , but not all , '62 Olds with air conditioning were equipped with the " delcotron " alternator .
You may be lucky enough to find one out there for parts
'61 & '62 police cars were also equipped with the "Delcotron " .
Slim chance of finding one of those though .

I have a ‘62 394 engine using alternator mounts from either a ‘63 or ‘64. If you cry about originality/ or parts numbers- stop reading this now. Anyways, I mounted the lower bracket that attaches to the front cylinder head. Only 2 of the 3 bolts line up- one hole is off about a half inch. For the top arm, I used an aftermarket universal chrome arm. The alternator i have is a universal 1 wire GM I bought from Summit racing. The alternator slides front to rear about an inch on the long bolt you put through the lower alternator mounting hole, but your going to need either washers or spacers to line up to that water pump pulley
