I am a true big Oldsmobile fan with the 69 98 being my favorite model. I have at least half a dozen 69 98s and looking for a few more. I have one example of the entire 69 98 line up with the top of the line Luxury Sedan tall formal roofline with the center post my favorite body style. The roofline is about 4 inches taller than the Holiday hardtop roofline which is a big difference.

Fuel cell for 64 Dynamic??????????

anyone ever put a fuel cell with a 0-30 ohm sending unit in the trunk of their 63-64 full size olds??? I can’t find one anywhere and my tank is beyond repair. Need a part number if you have one. Or a link.
Thanks!

Forget the word " kit " when you are dealing with " B " bodies . Hardly anyone makes a " kit " for anything . Just not enough sales volume to make it worthwhile .
However , the six large round mounts (four at the cowl , and the two above the rear axle ) are the same part number as a '66 Toronado . On 63 thru 66 B & C bodies . These are available from Steele Rubber :
https://www.steelerubber.com/body-mo...pad-70-2283-48
In addition , Ames Performance Engineering , a Pontiac supplier , offers a variety of other body mounts in their catalog . And they are shown by dimensions in their catalog ;
https://secure.amesperf.com/qilan/Se...y+mount&sort=0
Click on " details " for the dimensions .
That's what I did for my '63 Dynamic 88 , and I was able to get mounts that will work .
Hope this helps . Charlie

Add golden rocket to the darksider list. 67 Delmont 88 425 2 door Holiday hardtop coupe. 69,305 miles, original interior, build sheet (Happy birthday 10/17/66) "PL" 2 barrel low compression engine, factory air, owners manual w/ protecto-plate, and a few other things came with it. Still has carb tag, and bias ply spare tire in trunk. 2.90:1 rear end. Was re-painted sometime in the past, a close, but wrong color of Gold (G code paint).
Posted some pictures on newbie form when I joined last year. Just can't beat the big Olds, but my favorite is the Starfire, preferably the 65 and 66 models. (they are kind of like hens teeth, hard to find)

Coil springs

Got the left front coil spring installed today, also a pic of my modified upper control arm. I will do the right side tomorrow if I can find the upper ball joint nut!

This sure sounds familiar . No matter how organized you are , there are always those " Where the he!! did I put that thing ? " moments ( usually followed by a lengthy search ) .
It's not EASY to take a car apart into 10,000 pieces , and put it together again.

Well, if you can't find the nut or parts you need to do the other side, go work on something else....... you KNOW that when you look for something, you can never find it.

I can't wait for spring. Highs in the single digits is getting me a little crazy. The Starfire is sitting outside, and the '57 needs to be brought out of storage (the woods) for tires that hold air.

A tie rod nut on the donor car worked. Yes Charlie, no matter how organized things are you still have to look sometimes. All my stuff is bagged and tagged and I still have to look, but when you find whatever you thank yourself.

Oh, you'll find it . When you're not looking for it , and don't need it because you used something else anyway .

Darkside 1,

Been looking at your thread and would like to have the privilege of joining in on Big Olds issues. I have done some threads on the other general forums and sometimes eventually answer my own thread so it does not show up as "0" responses, after I figure out the answer. I am doing a frame off on a 65 Olds 98 4 Dr HT, which was my grandfather's car. I also have another 4dr same chassis for parts. I bought a 65 2 Dr HT for the front end as it was 100% original untouched but the car is in great shape and will work on that one eventually - but no frame off on it! Attached are a few photos I have on my phone and I have a catalog of photos on the home computer. Tiger69

This is another Thank You to Charlie Jones for starting this Darksider thread. Those of us with big Oldsmobiles are very familiar with lack of interest and knowledge about our cars but now there is a clearing house thread with 63 kindred souls and access to their project threads. Nice work!

A big "you're welcome " to you all !
This websight is dominated by the Cutlass / 442 crowd .
We "Darksiders " are like Rodney Dangerfield , we " get no respect " .
I saw what the 54 to 56 and 46 thru 48 guys were doing , and thought it might work for us .
And every once in a while a Cutlass / 442 guy will tire of that scene and buy a "big car " and come over to the " darkside " .

98 1/4 Rocket Emblem

I posted on the VC forum requesting 65-67 VC owners to confirm my belief that a 65-67 VC tailgate emblem would work on a 65 Olds 98 1/4 Emblem. No feedback, but the outstanding customer service depart at "thepartsplaceinc", measured it for me and compared my photos. It is aftermarket, listed for a Cutlass, but works and looks great. I suspect this emblem would work on several years and models. It actually is made for FUSICK and has FUSICK part number on it. Darksider 62.

1964 Starfire

Guess I never got around to posting on the Darkside when I joined the site over a year ago. After my son bought a house with enough garage space to store an extra car, we decided to take the plunge and make sure it was an interesting collector car. Both of us like a variety of '60's cars, but were not necessarily looking for an Oldsmobile. But when we came across a 1964 Starfire that was mostly restored (though still needing a little work), for a price we could afford, we took the plunge. We were ignorant of the challenge it would be to find or afford the parts needed to finish things up, but this website has provided a lot of valuable information. Due to transmission issues we haven't had it out on the highway, but have taken it out to a couple of our town's 'cruise nights'. On one of those occasions we got caught in a thunderstorm at dusk, and discovered how hard it is to drive in pouring rain when the windshield leaks badly and the dash lights & heater/defroster don't work. After doing some research we've decided to replace the old 'slim jim' transmission with a 700r4, so purchased one from Ross Racing that has been modified to fit the 394 (without needing to cut up the floor). Life got in the way and we haven't got it installed yet, but hopefully that will happen this summer and we'll get the car on the road.

Nice looking Starfire. I like your red interior better than my blue interior. Mine doesn't have A/C but it does have tinted windows. Where did you find your Starfire ?
I have a white one also, in the "reconstruction" stage. I bought mine with a 455 and TH400 in it. The 455 is almost done, the TH400 has been "improved". Interior and paint is next.

Northern Starfire your car does have a beautiful interior. AC, tilt and Autotronic eye too?!? Awesome.

Make sure you document your transmission install for us here please. I'd like to see some details of the overdrive install; another member on here put a TH400 in his car with the Ross conversion. I'd be very interested if it meant no floorpan cutting.

I'm doing the same with my 1962 Starfire convertible, a Ross 394 and 700r4. I won't have it until mid April. The car is in the going back together stage. The body will be put back on the frame at the paint shop in April and then I'll bring it home and install the eng/ trans.
We'll have to keep in touch because there are some mod issues between the shifter and the 700r4. It's been done before and the fine folks on this form will help us out.
After lots of research I went with the 700r4 because of the low first gear and overdrive which with a 364 rear end will allow the car to cruise down the highway at 70mph at 2300 rpm.
I would suggest doing some research on your rear end while your doing this swap. I think that the 1964 had the 9.3 rear end and the folks at Fabcraft are the 9.3 gurus. Keep in touch.

I came across it on the Minneapolis Craigslist in 2016. Bought it from a guy who had picked it up in Texas. That beautiful new red interior was one of the things that really sold me on the car.

As far as I know, my car has a 3.42 rear end, so my rpm's should be even lower than yours. Is there an issue with the 9.3 rear axle that I should know about?

I've been trying to find out some info about the shift linkage between my floor shifter and the 700r4. Shiftworks makes a conversion kit for the 700r4 to a Cutlass shifter (http://www.shiftworks.com/cutlas.htm), but I haven't been able to find out if the Cutlass shifter is essentially the same as is in the Starfire. If it is the same except for the detent plate (2-speed pattern for the Cutlass vs. 3-speed pattern for the Starfire), I would think this kit should work. But so far I haven't had anyone give me an answer on that. The posts by KQQLCAT (https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...-slim-jim.html) has been provided helpful information as I pursue this project.
