Anyone know how to make an old grille look good. It's original and has pits in it but I took a wire brush to it and it looks worse than it was before. Any suggestions appreciated

A close up picture of the damage you are refering to would help out but I suspect not much short of a complete re-chrome would restore it to new look. Wire brushing just loosens chrome that is already flaky and scratches the good parts.
