57 Fuel Gauge problem

Hi Guys,

Does anybody know the electrical resistance of the fuel gauge of a 57 Olds 88 ? I bought a new gas tank unit from FUSICK ( with a missing filter sock !!! ), but the gauge still does not show the gas level right. My mechanic said he could fix it with a resistance, if he knows the resistance from the gauge. There´s nothin in my shop manual about it. All what´s shown there is a tester from back of the days, which I don´t have, of course !
Many thanks !

Think it's 30 ohms. And I ran a seperate ground wire from the sender itself to a known good ground

Very common problem, some years use the metal gas line as a ground and any repaires over the years (cut line with a rubber section added) will cause the loss of the ground,Just something to look for....Tedd

Sorry. I put 30 ohms on the dash unit to read it was working. That put it about halfway full. I found the tank unit ( from a '61 manual) is 158-164 ohms
