53 olds wiring

40yrs ago we took the steering column out of my Dad's '53 Olds Super 88. There are 6 wires that come out of the column under the dash. I know that 3 wires are for the Hydromatic indicator and 2 wires are for the turn signals. The 6th wire is tan with a black and red cross tracer and I don't have a clue where it plugs in.

The horn wire comes outside of the firewall and connects to the horn relay. This wire comes out inside the car on top of the column with turn signal and hydro wires.

The other BRCT wire is 14 ga. and runs from headlight switch terminal 4 to dimmer switch terminal B. As per 1953 chassis manual PSD-53-2, page 13-34 fig 13-44 . As posted above, wire goes from signal switch to flasher. Is the wire long enough to reach the flasher?

The wire is long enough to reach the flasher. I'm looking at the wiring diagram and I see what your looking at. The car is in Pa. and I'm in Oh. but I hope to be there next week. I'll see if there is a place to plug into the flasher.

Thanks Yellowstatue. I plugged the 18 ga. BRCT into the flasher and matched up the others. Everything works except Hydro indicator. I believe I have it wired properly. I'll have to double check it next time I visit. All gauges, lights, turn signals, backup lights and neutral safety work. We took it for a drive for the first time in 41 yrs. Dad had a big smile on his face.
