455 Torque Strap

Well, after 20 years, the drivers side torque strap cable is starting to break some strands. Where can one purchase such a cable today?

I used to have a piece of chain on the front of the head to a steering box bolt.
That one looks to be on a head bolt? How do you maintain the torque? Not a fan....

I have head studs and I've never had any issues with the strap connection. Nut never loosens. Only issue after 20 years is some of the strands broke on the cable. Still holding but would like to replace it in the future

Didn't Mondildo sell those? You could duplicate it with $10 worth of parts from the hardware store.

As far as the attachment point, if it works, that's fine, but I wouldn't do it that way.

Your local crane and rigging supply can make up a cable to the length you want.

Some of the Buick Grand National guys fabbed them using an old seat belt-just an idea.

Mondello sells a flat bar with some kind of a bend. I bought one but never had it installed. I had a friend weld a chain onto a frame and bolt the other end by the headers.

X2 with a chain but one end of the chain was welded onto the frame and the other end was bolted to the headers.

That could be done with a 1/8 aircraft cable and 4 copper crimps.

Before I installed solid engine mounts I had a threaded turnbuckle and some 3/16 steel strap, one piece on the drivers cylinder head, the other wrapped around the frame on one of the steering gearbox bolts. It works well.

Mondello did sell these in the late nineties, I had bought one myself. I ended up using the head stud but opted to use chain to attach. If you like the cable, I’d opt to fabricate as others have suggested via Home Depot run.

I was cleaning my tools and found this in the back shelf that I bought from Mondello a long time ago. It’s a torque strap that connects one end to the upper control arm to the cylinder head bolt
