455 engine builders

Hello all I'm looking to replace my 1968 350 with a 455 for my Cutlass S. I'm looking for any recommendations on engine builders. I'm in Ca, but have heard to stay away from Mondello. Looking for a nice street engine with some pop.

I would stay away from the original mondello its not what it used to be since the passing of joe but you can trust Bernard mondello he is in corona California he doesn't build engines but can set you up with the correct parts he may also be able to recommend a shop to do your work

Prentice Automotive in Rancho Cordova (Sacramento area) they are in the middle a move right now and probably a year back logged so if you are in a hurry.... they might not be your best bet. They did all my machine work and I assembled my 455. The owner is a straight shooter that won’t try to sell you a load of unneeded bull. You just need to know what you want.

What part of California are you in? The state is over 800 miles long. You probably want someone local.

When I was in Lafayette, my boss at the time had an engine built for his 72 LT1 4-speed A/C Corvette. They did some very nice work, but that was 30 years ago and I can't remember the name of the shop. All that was a long winded way of saying I don't know anymore, but they are out there.
