442 or not?

442 or not?
Found this advertised as a 1969 442, with a "454" Olds and an auto. Shouldn't a 442 have rear bumper cutouts? Asking price is $28552, and not abnormal for an American classic over here. Not intending to buy, I was just curious.

I'm going to vote 'no'.
There are too many things wrong with it...even considering it is overseas (parts scarcity)....

Beside being a Cutlass with a Cutlass rear bumper. 442's do not say Oldsmobile on drivers side of the hood. The hood tooth has an "S" where the 442 should be.The trunk chrome at the trunk latch is definately a Cutlass. Glove box and door panels have the Cutlass "S" on them. It's hard to tell from the pic but it looks like it has later model *****. And of course the vin should strat with 34467

$10 says he doesn't change his advertisement just from a non-buying person's phone call.
442's are a more desirable vehicle, and this guy wants to sell it for the highest $$ possible.
It's advertised this way because it's up to the buyer to know what they are buying.
The seller most likely doesn't care. See these ads all the time.
The SS logo's cracked me up....

The most important recent reason is the depreciation of the USD and the strength of the Euro.
Alot of people I know from over in Europe that live here now have been exporting cars, bikes, quads, galore.
But realistically that car is rare over there so ~$30,000 USD for a rare muscle car convertible
in decent condition isn't too steep.

As for the price, I've spent $25000 on mine so far, $10000 of them being the paintjob. Given that the minimum wage is $20 for unskilled labor, we have a different kind of money over here - which means everything in the US seems cheap to us. Hell, gas prices are up to 13 kr a liter; that's $8.78 a gallon.

I guess the used car salesman in Denmark understand integrity.
Something most American car salesman still don't understand.
It's the #1 most deceptive job in America for many years......2nd was Loan Officers/Real Estate agents for home buyers.

I think this guy honestly didn't know what he had - he hinted at it being the third part of a trade, for better or worse. Not necessarily a used car salesman by profession, just an enthusiast (which you have to be to own a classic American car over here). I've been cheated before, so frauds are just as plentiful over here. :P

Yeah, it's downright atrocious. Anyway, the forum has a 'no politics' policy, so I'm hereby evading the topic. :P
Saw a '76 for sale today, priced at $3300, with a borked transmission: http://www.guloggratis.dk/personbile...mages=1#images

Cars are just of average ridiculously expensive, and a fancy car like any of the above gets extra value because of the rarity of them - thus they get away with prices like the above. The 183% sales tax on a new car doesn't help the matter either.

Late to this Dance...
Hey Seff I fully Understand how attractive US cars are over there, I saw a 2000 something chrysler 300 and my friend said it would sell for huge bucks, sort of what a Nimbus Motorcycle would sell for over here. My friend is buying a lot of muscle cars and he will send them all home to Norway when he finally retires...
By the way My Mom was from Laesoe, I was in Copenhagen last year what a beautiful country it was my first visit there. I was in heaven down in Nyhavn Ice Cold Carlsberg!!! and a little schnaps
Anyway the World Needs more Danish Oldsmobile Fans!!!!

Every 60-something guy over here wants a Mustang to cure his midlife crisis, so they're a huge commodity. Unlike 60-something American guys, these guys didn't drive them in their youth, and thus see them in a different light.
Did you get your mother's name? Hansen is definitely Danish. :P Yeah, I'm pretty happy with our little country, all things considered - I agree, though, there SHOULD be more Oldsmobile fans. Nobody here knows what it is!
Oh, and we can't drink while deployed, so any talk of cold beer leaves my mouth afloat. >.>
