442 Emblems

Hello folks,

I have 3 sets of 442 emblems that I pulled off of a '72 Cutlass in a junk yard about 20 years ago (bad clone, one set was actually glued on to the fender). I noticed that the emblems are different in that 2 sets are solid, and one set is "hollowed out." I am going to ***|u|me that the solid set (left pic) are older and the hollow set is newer...GM keeping down costs don't-cha-know.

Anyone have any info as to when the solid was used and when the hollowed out was used?

Thanks!

it has been a long time since i looked but i think the fender emblems were solid and the trunk emblem was hallowed out. the tabs should be shorter and a smaller diameter for the trunk emblems

Really...That sort of makes sense since the mounting pegs are shorter on the hollow ones. Thanks!
