Not sure, but somebody (private) has paid for the domain up through 2022.

The site has been owned by Brothers Automotive for a number of years. The site was apparently re-hosted on GoDaddy last month. Don't know why it's still off-line, but frankly the 1990s-vintage forum software made it relatively worthless. Hopefully they are bringing the site screaming and kicking into the 21st century. In the meantime, the admittedly flawed Olds FAQ is still available at this mirror site.

FYI, the FAQ is still available at this mirror site.

I didn't know there was a mirror site. Very nice. When did that get set up?

Don't know. I started searching for an alternate FAQ site once 442.com went down. Found it shortly after that. Google is your friend.

If the URL is any indication, this mirror version resides here on classicoldsmobile.com. If so, then perhaps our admins might be able to provide the opportunity to correct some of the misinformation I see commented on once in a while?

If people are interested, I can set up similar style wiki type pages on my site if we want to start building a repository for documentation.

We did that here about five years ago or so. A number of people put effort into fixing the FAQ errors. Then the revised FAQ and all that work mysteriously disappeared.

I can give my guarantee that as long as my web host keeps the servers going, my site will stay up. Wouldn't be too difficult for me to add a "documentation" link to my menu and a page where a few mods can go in and edit.

Hosting

Since I liked this site and 442.com, and I love my convertible 442, if it helps, I would offer free hosting with my servers to the two sites.

I could do the same. We could make a database, and mirror in five places.

Even if 442.com comes back up, the site is shoddy, and the faq has errors and is clunky.

I thought the domain got sold to a Chinese firm or company. All numeric domain names (especially short ones) sell for a premium over there as they are easier to market.

The icann registration was recently updated, so someone is noodling about with it.
