375 hp production numbers in '66 and '67?

I'm new to the site, but I believe General Discussion is where I should post my query........if not, please re-direct me.

......I'm hoping to determine how many 375 hp 425 cid Olds cars were built in 1966 and 1967. Perhaps a determination is impossible, but if the data exists, or can be estimated with some confidence, then I'd be keen to learn the numbers.

Tx, McSilver

I don't think those numbers are available, but in 66 13,000 plus Starfires were built (if I remember accurately) and they all were 375 HP. The 98 and Delta had this engine as optional as well as the 66 Dynamic Police option. As for 67 I cannot say how many buyers opted for the 375 HP 425.... or how many Police units were built.

Actually, in 1966, the L75 motor was standard in the Starfire and optional in the Ninety Eight and Delta 88 only. It was not available in the Dynamic. In 1967 it was available in the Ninety Eight, Deltmont 88 425, Delta 88, and Delta Custom.

As a regular option yes the Sfire 425 was not available in the 66 Dynamic, but police literature does show the 375HP availability in the 66 Dynamic. The old Bryceman 442 site used to picture one so equipped.

Good point. I forgot about the Police options. Just like the L77 400 motor in non-442 Cutlii.

I'm guessing the production numbers for L75 Dynamics could be counted on your fingers.

375 hp engine

If I am reading the charts correctly, they are still referring to a "Starfire Engine" in 1967 though the Starfire car is no longer available. Interesting. (Of course Ford hot hot Thunderbird spec motors, though they weren't available in Thunderbirds, so Oldsmobile wasn't charting new territory)

I'm assuming my take away point is that the build number of Starfire engines is an unknown from '66 and 67?

In the same way that Olds called the 330 motor the Jetfire, despite having exactly nothing to do with the 1962-63 turbocharged cars.

Factory production records to that level of detail no longer exist.
