350 rear main seal

My mechanic is replacing the rear main seal. The current seal is rubber. But all the parts listings show rope. Does anyone know how to get a rubber seal? Part number?

The rubber seal for a Ford Y-block motor fits the small block Olds. FEL-PRO BS6141 or equivalent. About $12 from RockAuto. Just throw away the two straight pieces, the Olds doesn't use them.

Joe. THANK YOU very much. Especially for the quick response. I will order one immediately. No local stores have it in stock.

Joe I always like reading your responses to all the threads. You are always right on, and very helpful.

Come to Los Angeles and I will buy you a big steak dinner.

Thank again.
