Cool 350 just dies for no reason?

Good morning all,
I have an issue that is baffling to me. 350 starts right up, drives fine but without warning it will either stall and not re-start, or if I park it warm and come back out shortly, it will not start. If it sits for 15 min to a half hour it starts right back up. I have changed the fuel pump, and the hoses to the carb as well as the fuel filter. Any ideas? It doesn't seem like its getting fuel?
I really like driving the car but I can't depend on it not stranding me, HELP! LOL.

Non vented gas cap ? Next time it dies try loosening the GC and see if it will restart or makes a whoosh sound

Has factory cap but I will check that! The car sat for 11 years before I got it. So I flushed the cooling and fuel systems. I keep searching. THANKS!

You didn't say what year.
Hei or points?
The electronic module under the
cap on an hei could be bad. They
act up and lose fire after running
awhile. Or the condensor for the
point set-up can cause the same problem.

Usually will fire up again after they have
time to cool off. Good luck and let us know
if you got it fixed.

I was on the same page with your first reply, and now with this one. My money is on the module.

When you say does not start, does it crank? Did you pull the air cleaner off and while looking down into the carb operate the throttle and see if you had fuel? Do you actually have spark when your cranking the engine? If you have a known good distributor, I would drop in whole instead of just changing the module.

This applies to the Mopar too.

+1. I hear a lot of parts changin', but no troubleshootin'.

Is it getting fuel? Does it have a spark? We don't know. Do you?

Yes, the HEI module definitely has a failure mode like that, but why not check for spar, then, if you have none, take the module down to your local chain parts store and have them test it, and, if it tests bad, replace it? (Have them test the new one before you leave the store, too - ask how I know.)

X2 on the troubleshooting. Check to see if it squirts gas in the carb. The way you describe the way it happens with the engine warm it sounds a lot like vapor lock. How are your fuel line routed?

Mopar's are notorious for bad ballast resistors. They get corroded in the back. Try that one.

Checked for spark and it was ok, it acts like it is getting no fuel, but it is. Engine doesn't have too be very warm, one time it did it in less then one mile from home, stalled and would not start, (yes it turns over just fine) then after leaving it for a while, it starts on less then a full rotation like nothing was ever wrong? I am leaning toward the module issue, I have at least 3 in my shop! I have never seen one act so odd but I will give it a shot! Thanks for all the ideas, I will let you know what develops.

Wondering about this as well. I was kind of thinking it sounds like a choke issue. Like it is getting stuck or just working improperly. Especially when you said it has to cool down to start. Just a thought but hey, definitely curious. To many forums out there that have the problem but not the final result. Check in with the answer dude!
