350 block from what!?!?!??!
Hello gentlemen,
Came across this block but I am having a difficult time in decoding the block. I know it's a 350 but any more of that I cannot figure out.
Thanks

I would say '69 350, but that VIN derivative is mis-stamped(doesnt have the factory code) But even if it had a factory id, it wouldnt tell you what type of vehicle it was installed in.

The casting number on the water pump shelf shows it is a 1968-1976 block. The VIN stamping is different in that there are 7 numbers after the 9 (which I guess means 1969?) instead of the typical 6 numbers after a letter that indicates the assembly plant. So on this block, there is a 1 instead of a letter.
3 = GM division = Oldsmobile
9 = year of manufacture = 1969
1 = assembly plant = "I have no idea, this is usually a letter"
149182 = last 6 digits of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
3 = GM division = Oldsmobile
9 = year of manufacture = 1969
1 = assembly plant = "I have no idea, this is usually a letter"
149182 = last 6 digits of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

Yes I caught that as well, the fellow selling it said it was from a 442. I am thinking it's not.
Not sure if I am reading this right, but the information below says it's from 68 to 70 block 395558 2. And if can take the number from the stamp, it's a 69 block

You are reading that right but the information is incorrect. Note in the third line it shows 68-76 350 blocks with the same casting number as the 330 blocks in the first and second lines. This is obviously incorrect. That third line would be correct if the block number was 395558, and the fourth line should have been deleted as it was redundant.
As for that 6th line with 395558 5, well if anyone ever sees one of those, please post a picture of it.
Someone made a lot of errors when copying / pasting that info into the FAQ.

My buddy has an Oshawa built '69 Cutlass S. It's a nice original, 1 repaint, #s matching car. It's all blown apart for a frame off. I'll have him check his engine stamping this weekend. I'll bet it has the 1 for Oshawa also.
