Just purchased this Delta 88 and what I thought was a 350 Engine. The old owner said it was and the breather sticker convinced me. Got it back to PA, ran the vin and holy sh*#, it's a 455. I just figure the old owner didn't know what was under the hood ( He owned it since 1980). What you think ? Here's the pics.

The only way to know for sure is check the casting numbers on the block. They are located on the shelf area between the oil filler neck and oil pressure sending unit.

 

Thanks Citcapp and 70....I posted the number/letter sequence on the block a couple of days ago and members responded that it was the code used for a 455 in 1975....just puzzled by the mislabeled air cleaner. No matter what the reason, I guess, I'm having a blast with her.

 

Cool. Something most have happened to the one that came with it and they replaced it with a air cleaner from a junk yard. You can buy a new repo sticker pretty cheap.

Back in the day all my 455 Olds motors all wore 350 decals on the air cleaners. Even the open aftermarket ones. My 350 Rockets (yea right) were always bad a$$ and no one knew how to tell the difference...
