Question 324 front engine support

We're tearing down the engine in the '54 Super 88 so we can change the camshaft. The front engine mount has to be removed and the front of the engine will need to be supported by other means. Have any of you devised a smart way to accomplish this? The 1954 shop manual, of course, suggests the use of special tool set BT-29. Does anyone with knowledge of this generation of engine have any suggestions? Or tool set BT-29?
