3 more cars home

i thought i had to much going on to mess much with the oldsmobiles this year but it just won't let me go. i just could not let these cars go to the crusher. the guy was really going to crush these cars! i was not interested in the 65 so i called a guy i know and he wanted it so i brought it home also.

That red Supreme looks like it was a nicely optioned car for its day. The blue one looks like it would be the easiest to work on though. You are a good man adopting all these orphans. I need a spread like what you've got. Then I'd go on a rescue mission....

Personally, I like the look of the 65. It's not a post car and would look real cool all dressed up in shiny black with silver accents and the windows down.

Holy cow! not just 1 but 3

Cool, glad to see something useful come of the cars instead of being outright crushed.

i may be getting the buckets, redone and putting them and the tilt wheel and the console in my wife's car. if the power windows and locks work i may attempt to put them in there also.

Maybe it's the lighting, but it looks like the radio in the red car may have an AM/FM slider on it.

Hey..... I just realized the blue one has the wide Supreme trim down the side but the red one does not. Does it have the pins welded in the sheet metal? I thought all Supremes had the wide side trim.

Eric, look at the sides of the red car in the same location as the blue one to see if there are pins welded into the sheet metal, just like the little pins that hold the windshield trim clips on. If there not there you may want to do some investigating before dismantling it. John

It also looks like a fully vinyl top, not just the halo trim vinyl top.

it is an AM/FM but it will have to have work. when you slide the bar the screen don't roll over. the inside of the 72 red car has alot of water and mold. it may have played havoc on the electrical.

I tip my hat to you for saving 3 more Olds!!
If they are too far gone for resto, the good parts will be highly wanted by other Olds enthusiasts.
Hopefully they are not all too far gone. Let us know what your plans for them are.

I want acreage, too!!!!!!!

i went out to play with the new toys and hooked up the jumper battery to the 70 and the 72. the convertible started up like it had just ran yesterday. i did not even ask if they ran. i found that the 70 has 71 or 72 finders on it and the 72 has 70 only finders on it. the 70 has a 70 core support and grill but has a 72 hood on it. the 70 has a 73 engine and carb on it. what a mess. there are mushrooms growing out of the carpet from all the moisture in them. they will be parts cars but i don't know what i will keep and sell. i have no titles for them and were sold "as parts cars" on the bill of sale. the guy that i got them from just crushed several 68 firebirds. my buddy is steaming i did not get there in time.

John,
In 1972 most Cutlass Supremes did not have the wide body rail moldings down the sides, although it shows the option in the Fischer body manual. The wide moldings would be mostly on the Cutlass Supreme and SX packages that were from 1970 if memory serves. If the original moldings are on the car, you are right that there will be little pins welded to the skin, but they also used that for the thin body railings also.

i have a guy wanting me to price the convertible to him. i have no idea what to price it to him for. it has a good frame, disc brakes, floor shift column, 68 or 9 shifter and console, some A/C parts left. the body is shot! bondo city. the doors could be salvaged for a driver. the engine is a 73 and runs good. does anyone have any ideas what to price it at?

open rear end also

and the cars just keep coming

i was after this car for 10 or more years. the lady would not sell it to me. well she found out that i am collecting and parting Oldsmobiles. she told me that this was her Uncles car that he got new. she said that she would like me to take her car now and preserve any parts i can so at least part of her Uncles car could live on. she almost cried when i drove off with it on the trailer.

You are lucky , and I cant believe he crushed 68 Firebirds !!!
If you decide to part any of these , I would buy
Console top trim plate for 70 71 72
console harness
driver side dash vent Mine is broke and I traded off a good one.
Hope your neighbors like Oldsmobiles LOL
