220,000 mile wear items

It turns out, on Jetstars, the trunk hinges are wear items. Good ol' metal fatigue.
Anyways...
Will the hinges from a 1964 Impala fit? I looked these up http://www.impalas.com/under-hood-an...le/ts6264.html and they seem to be the same as the ones on the Oldsmobiles. Any thoughts?

Maybe no one knows.

If I were you and I needed these and they look like they might fit, I would call the vendor. Ask if they know. It's possible this question has been asked of them before.

If they don't know, ask if you can buy them and return them if they don't work. At $82 a pair, I would agree that you don't want to take a chance on them unless you're 100% sure they'd work OR you can get your money back if they don't.

Unfortunately, it looks like these are backordered at the moment, anyway.

You might look up the "Hollander" interchange book and see what it says.

Easier said than done, I'm guessing.

My searching didn't turn up an online, free-to-access version, which didn't really surprise me.

Hollander itself sells these of course, but each volume is about $50, including the one that covers 1964, plus shipping:

I checked the website of my local library (small town), and it doesn't carry any Hollander manual. Then I checked the websites of both the New York and Chicago Public Libraries, figuring that if any libraries would have any of the Hollander manuals, one or both of these would. Both appear to carry maybe one or two of the many versions of this that are available, but neither appeared to have the one that covers 1964.

If he plans to do a lot part interchange checking over the years, then investing in the appropriate volume for his model year is probably worth it. But if he just wants to know about this one part, and he doesn't know somebody that has one of these, he's probably better off and would potentially get his problem solved faster if he just goes ahead, acts on his hunch that the Chevy part will work, orders it to try it out, and returns it if it doesn't.

The one literally broke in half, on a stress point. Even if I had access to welding equipment on campus, it would probably break again.
