Route Suggestion

Because of the construction by the zoo interchange I would suggest an alternate route. Please use your Google maps or Mapquest to follow along.
When coming up from Illinois on I-94 as you get past the airport in South Milwaukee use I-894 towards Madison.
As you are driving on I-894 stay in the left lane after 76 st as that lane will turn on to 43 south towards Beloit. Stay on I-43 to exit Moorland Rd( exit 57 I believe). Go north on Moorland for aways ( please check your map service for the milage). You will pass under I-94 just before the host hotel that will be on the left, north of I-94. Stay in the left lane and turn at the stoplight by the shopping mall.
Going this way will avoid any construction delays.
This is just a suggestion.

And a very wise suggestion, I might add. Living in Milw, I can attest to what a zoo the construction mess has made!

I'm planning on taking back roads up from the Chicago area, thinking of Rt 45 on the way up which merges into what it looks like (100) when you get close, do you foresee any issues with that?, thanks!

Hard to say I've never gone that way. Check with DOT on construction on those routes.
When you get to Hwy 100 and you see layton head west on layton and enter I-43 to Moorland Rd.

Best trailer friendly route coming up that has minimal construction and narrow lanes? Thanks.

In Iowa, you are supposed to stop at the weigh station (if it is open) if either the truck, trailer, or both together have gvw over 10,000 lb. Illinois also has strict trailer rules. Check the state websites to see if the enforcement officers might give you a hassle. They get especially hard on racers who might win money.

Is Cheap Trick in town?

Seriously, were leaving plenty of travel time in the schedule and would want to go whichever route minimizes hassles with the trailer.

I will be driving up from Auburn (going to the Auburn Cord Museum) and was going to stop in the Shedd Aquarium.

I tried to paste a google maps link but the route was not showing up ( any help there? )

My route takes me up 94 to 894 then north to West Allis. Will this avoid the construction by the zoo?

Peter take 43 (the Beloit exit) towards Beloit as stated in my directions. Taking 894 any further north will put you right in the heart of construction.
Joe they have a office in Madison.

need help with trailer parking

Hi, my name is dave bunch and I need some help! I have a 24' (27' overall length) Pace American enclosed trailer that I need to park temporary before the OCA Nats. from July 16-20, as I will be attending the 2015 Car Craft Street Nationals. Then I will park the trailer in the parking area at the host hotels lot during the OCA Nats. July 21-25. I will be towing the trailer with my 36' motor home (overall length is 63') so I will need room to maneuver the whole rig. I do have a Class A CDL so I can and know how to back up a rig like mine safely!

I will be parking/staying in my motor home at the Wisc. State Fair RV Park and they have no room for my trailer. Thus my problem!

I have tried several storage places and I only found one that will work, however they want two (2) months rent for $120 dollars.......... !

Can you help or have a suggestion? Maybe a club member has room? Maybe you know someone who has the room for my trailer only? I am willing to pay something!

Thank you for any consideration you may give this request,
dave bunch

There is race gas avaliable in the area. You do need to bring a container/gas can.

Did I see your name on a 54 Olds that was on the TV show Fantomworks? I caught a glimpse of some names on it and I thought it said D Yaros. I could be wrong and if I am,I'm sorry. It was some kind of special race car they redid.

I did not see the show, so I am unable to confirm/deny. The only 54 Olds I had any connection with was one that ran in the 2014 Mille Miglia. My connection was to do a write up on it in my monthly e-zine/newsletter. That connection is far to slim to warrant my name being on the car.

I have checked the web site and we are indeed talking about the same Olds. On the web site I see no names on the car/door. Perhaps they were removed by the time the pics there were taken? I do believe one of the owners was also named Dave.

Dave

I looked on the web also before I asked you the question and didn't see any names on the car. I did see the show again and your name wasn't on it but the drivers name was Dan I think thus the D. The car in question was going to the race you mentioned and is probably the same car. Sorry for the confusion and hope to see you @ the Nats.

'Tis indeed the very same car. You may find the articles I wrote in 2014 of interest? They are available online here - and here

No problem, and yes, you shall indeed see me and the Mrs. at the Nats!

I could help with the trailer. A friend owns a shop and has a spare lot next to it. It is approx 20 min of a freeway trip to state fair. It is a mile off I-94 and south of the fair park. I assume the car will be with you and the rv and the trailer empty?

OK, I have watched the show in question. The original owners of the car were Dave Frederick and Vince Sadd. I did see their names on the car doors in the show.

Having watched the show, I have to seriously question what parts of it, if any, are based on/in reality. I say this as I know that Vince and Dave drove the heck out the car in pre-race (2014) testing. Yes, they did not finish (DNF) due to carb problems and no replacement or parts with them in Italy.

I do not believe they sold the car with 2 dead/nearly dead cylinders.

The car was not in the 2015 Mille Miglia starting field, as I checked the web site.

In the show, while running on the mocked up road coarse, sometimes the car has hub caps, and other times it does not.

Who would pay $20K + for resto services and have the yellow script on the Oldsmobile valve covers painted over green?

All-in-all, things just do not add up?

Just to let you know we have a few custard places in the area.
When I have people come in from the west coast this is the first thing I'm asked about.

Race Gas

You can get race gas on the corner of 45 and C about 10 miles south of the track at Countryside Convenience Center. Worth a check if you're taking that way up. It was about a year and a half ago when I last got it.
