2012 AZ All Olds Show
#3
I hope to go. I haven't been able to get any of the 3 contact people on the phone yet. I just got approval from the "Queen." I have no idea what class to put my car in at that show. At the Nationals it is in 20L3.

I'm definitely going, but not to sure about my '71 Cutlass SX. I have the front bumper off to install the correct grills, and it's doubtful if I'll have it back together in time. It will go in the projects/builder category if I can get the grill back together. I will take plenty of pics though.

There's not many 'show cars' at this gathering, mostly nice 'driver' quality cars instead. It's still nice to see all those Oldsmobiles gathered in one spot, and have the chance to visit with the owners.

50's era Rocket 88's and '68 - '72 Cutlass are the most widely represented locally, with the occasional Toronado in between. One guy has a rallye red 70 442 W-30 that is too clean to believe. Too bad there's no C.O. dash plaques like guys on the HAMB have. It would be a good way to connect with with the other folks on this forum.

I was told there are 80 cars pre-registered so there should be at least 100 Oldsmobiles there. My car is easy to find with "Run to Rund" lettered the same as in 1966, and I wear a Rund cap In lieu of CO plaques, everyone could paint their handle on the car, lol.
The weekly car show, a huge gathering, takes place afterwards (Saturday evening).

Thanks for adding all the great pics, I spent too much time visiting, and not enough time taking pics. I ALSO REALLY LIKED THE TEE SHIRTS THEY HAD THIS YEAR, BUT NOT ENOUGH 2XX AND 3XXX TEE SHIRTS FOR SALE! Who ever ordered shirts for the club needs to take a better look at the guys attending these shows. The last time I fit a 'large' tee shirt was in high school.

I talked with the owner of the black 68. It has a carbon fiber flip up front clip, roll bar integrated inside the passenger compartment, and a built engine with nitrous, steel main caps and girdle. He expects it to run 9s in the quarter.

No, there was someone crazier than us that drove in from Wisconson I think it was in a black 66 Toro. I towed the '65 out. My truck gets twice the mpg towing than the 65 gets cruising, lol!!

Wish some of you guys could have stayed later, I had to work.
I made it out about 1:30, still had some trickling in and out.
That Blown Ram-Rod was my favorite, and the California 66 W-30 must have been a 1 of maybe 2.
I have a couple of nice Hawaiian shirts I'm going to give Chris (qjetolds) to go along with his straw hat.
Cheers

Yeah, we took off after the prize drawings at noon. But still had a great time, and met some real nice folks. Wisconsin eh? Those guys will do anything to get out of their winter weather.
