Any tips on how to remove the head without snapping the bolts? The Aurora seems to have a rap for this issue and no local shops want to be involved in the repair. I figure if I can get the car for the right price I’d try it. Worst that happens is it becomes a parts car.

If that's the mini northstar engine, not the pushrod 3.5 plan on heli-coiling all the head bolt holes in the block

Thats my understanding as well. How these motors got greenlighted and then oops, the owners are jacked if they wanted to keep a 40K car is beyond me.

What happens is the block head bolt holes are not blind, they go into coolant passages and the corrosion on the bolts when your removing them bugger up the threads. Even if no damage is shown most of the time one or more will pull the threads or strip when your installing the head bolts resulting in starting over and buying a new set of head gaskets. You need to do gaskets, new bolts, heli-coils and check the heads for straightness
