2-1/2 inch Pypes exhaust users - issues?

Have any of you had issues with the exhaust manifold downpipes on the 2.5" kit? If so, how did you fix it?

The passenger side fits perfect. The driver's side is a nightmare... it hits the control arm mount, hits the trans crossmember (misses the arch), and due to the fact it hits the frame, it doesn't seal right on the exhaust manifold.

Some pictures are attached... I heated the pipe up with my torch and bashed the pipe in to clear the frame, but it's still not enough.

Of course, the Homecoming show is in 5 days... I'm going to have an aneurysm trying to get this $%(*& car there...

One other on Summit had the same issue. There is a thread on the G body site, quality control seems to be an issue.

Thanks. Pypes was responsive and offered a new downpipe, but they won't have any in stock until July 23.

Other than Ram Air Restoration, it appears that nobody else makes mandrel bent 2.5" downpipes anymore (flowmaster discontinued, no dynomax or magnaflow). I called Ram Air Restoration yesterday and ordered a set, should be here tomorrow. Nice people, here's a link, though the picture isn't likely accurate:

If you live near a muffler shop, they can heat the pipe in the problem areas and mildly bend it to fit the places required to get to run where it needs to be.

I had the same issue on the flange with my headers, I used heat and a huge pry bar to get it to seal. I think there should be a little more metal on the flared end of the pipe.

We ended up heating it ourselves and bending it halfway where it needs to be, just to make it to homecoming. The ram air restoration pipes didn't arrive until the car was on the trailer to leave for the show. I probably won't get a chance to compare them and work with the new ones for a week or two, will post pics when I do.
