Factory dual exhaust A body clearance question..

I recently received our new stainless exhaust from Classic Exhaust in Ohio for our '70 Cutlass wagon. As promised it appears to fit nicely despite my request to have the tailpipes upsized to 2.25". I am curious though,....the system I had removed had a relief dent machine pressed into the driver's side down pipe to clear the aft lower A arm mount boss. This seemed very logical based on the clearance of the manifold to the frame... The new pipes do not have this provision and the clearance is too tight for my comfort. Did the factory relieve this area for clearance, or did it get relieved during one of the previous owner's times of enjoyment? Any pictures or experiences are greatly appreciated.

Interesting that you had the tailpipes upsized and not the exhaust pipes. Most do larger pipes from engine to muffler.

The left pipe should have a relief at the control arm.

If the new pipe doesn't rattle on the frame, don't lose any sleep over the lack of a "dent" for clearance. If it does hit, clearance it.

Regardless of frame chatter, as a helicopter mech I am not so good with metal on metal. My friend Jason and I messaged the down tube this am before work. The 304 stainless was more than reluctant to budge,...even a little bit without some softly applied BTU's. We finally got it relieved as cleanly as one could expect and burnished out the evidence. Looks good, lasts long time... Thanks for the replies and sharing your knowledge.
