1976 Cutlass insurance issues

I am having issues with replacement value with GRUNDY. I have a 69 Camaro with them with no value issues, but they will only value this car at $7,500. It's a 1976 Cutlass Supreme, triple black with T-Tops, one owner, garage kept with 13,425 miles. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Well, based on auction sales for the last year, that's about right. Replacement value means the cost to buy an equivalent car. Unless this car has some extensive custom modifications, you can replace it for about $7500, based on what the going rate is in the market.

Some specialty car insurers will write a declared value policy. You specify the value and they price it accordingly. Obviously, the premiums will be higher.

Check with another company (J.C. Taylor for example) and see what they have to offer.... Nothing says you have to have the same company for each of your collector vehicles... Maybe another company will give you exactly what you want and for a better value, especially if you were to insure all your collector vehicles with them....

Joe is right. I use Nationwide with my recently restored '87 Z28. Their value was way lower than the work I put into it. All I had to do was purchase a "Declared Value" policy. It costs more, but they are insuring it for more in the event some Delta Bravo decides to hit me one day. It certainly gives you peace of mind...

Ask them about an agreed value policy for a figure you can both agree. Send some pictures and see what happens, I don't think there are many low mileage cars out there to compare with.

If not, as others suggested there are other ins. co's.
