Hey guys I am looking to buy a 1975 omega, 260 three speed on floor. My friend owns it. But we cant seem to come to terms. Can you give me some of your guys opions.runs but needs clutch.

 

To me its probably a $500 car. Its going to take more than you think to make it a safe streetable car.

 

I would agree with Eric on the $500.00
$900-1k with the rims, a decent paint job without any rust/patch work will run you around $3500-4k but could go up from that if you want a show quality job.
The 260 isn't worth more than scrap weight cost, you will probably want a 350 after the first few cruises.
Lots to take into consideration that will affect the price you want to pay.
How much is he asking for the car as pictured ?

That's what it sounds like to me also.
Say to him "Thanks, but no thanks." and move on. Personally, I'd ask him about what appears to be a Corvair next to it (given, I can only see one tail light). That could be more fun as an inexpensive first project car.

 

I'd thank him and move on to something else.

I agree with the others $500-$750 is a realistic price for that car if it doesn't even move. If the car can be driven and the transmission babied into gear then maybe $1000 would be reasonable.

 

There is plenty of work to be done. The 260 isn't much of a motor, and the transmission may not be the strongest. The interior needs work. You have to decide if you want it, and how bad you want it. .I doubt the value on the Omega's will be very high. Your pal owns the car and he is the one who controls the price.

At the price he is asking I would walk away from it even for $2500. The car isn't worth that much restored, because there isn't that much interest in them, The 3 speed is kind of rare, but he is dreaming of retirement money at that price.

 

Wow.. You mentioned your friend owns it?? That car will sit in that same spot for many years to come if he's banking on getting $3500 for it.
I wouldn't touch it for more than 1K in its condition. As others mentioned the Omega's weren't something sought after and never will be, especially in that condition with the weak power plant and trans.

You offered 5 times what it is worth. Be happy he didn't take it and walk away. Buy a better car, in better shape, for 2500.
