1972 Pace Car on CL

Please comment on this. The seller indicates up front it is a replica. Where there Medical Director's cars done that way?

I saw that the other day. It is a clean car. At least he says up front it is a replica. IMHO, the pace cars are ugly. I would rather have a Vista Curiser that was Banana Yellow with faux woodgrain paneling or a Cutlass that was Lime Green with a black vinyl top.

Different I guess. But somehow I could see myself driving it.
If only for the attention it must surely get.

I believe that car (or one like it) was at the OCA Nats in 2003 in Cinci.

So give me some feedback guys. Is he asking too much for a replica? What would the original be worth? What do you think of him even doing it up as a replica? How hard do you think it was for him to do it?

My opinion. He purchased a clean VC for about 10 grand that was already white and did it up for a couple more grand and is looking to make some quick cash. At least he is honest and says it is a replica up front. Were the buckets and console in the original? Was the OAI hood on the original functional or just for looks?

And finally, I would like it better as a clean VC without the decals. The seats, console, OAI could stay though.

The car looks like the guy did a good job with detail. 18-20k seems like a decent deal for the quality of the car!

It is immaculately detailed. I wonder how many miles it has on it? Does it have the third row seating?

I'm not so sure it is a "quick cash" deal. Those types are pretty shoddy and inaccurate, and this looks to be complete and well done.
From what I can see (including the link Jamesbo provided), the only difference between this one and a "real" one is the pedigree the real one has.
Value for either? As with any "one of a few", there is no market to determine a value, so above the value of the unadorned wagon, it is just a guess.

Yeah, that was poor choice of words. I guess what I meant was, I thought he was doing it as an "investment".
