1972 cutlass rear end help

i have a 1972 cutlass supreme that I just put a 455 in. Looking at a rear end out of a 1976 Monte Carlo 10 bolt posi 373 gears. Will this work and is it enough rear end? I will be running 295/50/15 bfgoodrich radial ta's only no race slicks at all. Thanks

The 76 MC is wider than your 72 Cutlass, the control arms will need to be modified to match up, It can be done but the OFFSET on your wheels will be a challenge. Good luck

Unless you are a good fabricator i suggest getting correct parts for your existing rear end.It would be cheaper.Even a 12 bolt chevy 68/72 would be much better than that 76 10 bolt Monte.JMO

Maybe somebody will chime in. But didn't Olds start using the 8.5 10 bolt starting in 72? And would the posi and gearset in that 76 10 bolt fit that diff? Provided it shares the same spline count for the 72 axles.

You may be right but it seemed like he wanted to do a complete rear swap.

It was in 1971.

Yes, everything would swap from the 76 axle into the 72 axle.
