Thank you droldsmorland for the attachment. If I am following the thread correctly there is no production breakdown for a W29 1972 442 Convertible with the U Code 455. I don't remember the series number for the '72 Cutlass Supreme Convertible which is obviously the starting point for a car with the 442 option...if anyone knows the "closest" production breakdown (for example '72 Cutlass Supreme Convertible with the 442 option, or '72 Cutlass Supreme Convertible with the 455 option) that would be helpful too. Ctls that is my understanding. We know the 442 W29 vert number but not the engine, trans, colors, or option breakdowns.
You can bet its a lower number with that engine trans and color combo. If I were to order that car back in 71 I sure as hell would have checked off the box for 455 and 4 speed. A 442 should have a 455 IMO...and most thought the same. So the majority of these may have 455s.
A rarer though less desirable option(s) would be the same car with a 350 2 bbl stick and single exhaust...Rare doesn't equal desirable or bring in more $$.
There is a gentleman here in the upstate area that has an almost identical car to yours. Same colors. It's a museum-quality way over-restored trailer queen....455, 4 speed. Beautiful is an understatement.
He told me what he thought the production number was-30 years ago. Its was low but I can't recall, double digits? I don't remember and the next Q is where did that info come from? No internet back then.

I may have some decent U Code #s for the 4200 Supreme line but it does not break out the W29s and maybe not even hardtops vs. convertibles. This question comes up a couple times a year - I should just keep the info in a U Code folder on a hard drive. Let me take a look for the #s - the percentage was surprisingly low.
