1970 W-31 Carb and Distributor Numbers

How can I tell the production dates of my carb and distributor (if at all possible) based on the numbers posted below. Were there multiple runs of the W-31 quadrajets throughout the '70 campaign?

Carb:
7040255 NA
1030

Distributor:
1111975
0E19 (May 19, 1970?)

0 = 1970
E = May
19 = 19th day of month
your guess is correct

as for the carbs, I believe there was one or two date runs on them. I believe btrick knows more as I think he's researched them more than I

Thanks Chris. I'll see if btrick chimes in.

1030 looks like it might be the 103rd day of 1970 which would have been Monday, April 13th, 1970. Anyone else have a 7040255 with that date? Sounds appropriate for a late May build.

Following this thread here which makes me believe there were 4-5 runs of 7040255 qjets for the 1970 W-31.

w-31 carb

That "IS" a legit build date. In my database I have 2 other carbs with the same date. Yes there were 4-5 possibly 6 build dates for these special carbs. Still trying to validate that.

Do you own a 1970 W-31? Would love the oppurtunity to add this car to my 1970 W-31 regestry and get more if any info on the car. PM or email me if you like.

Thanks,

STeve

What about W-31 intake runs for '69 and '70?

I have a "service carb" warranty replacement carb. on my W-31. Car build date is 02C (3rd week of Feb.) and has a few other parts with Julian dates of 051 and 052 (Feb 21st and 22nd). The replacement carb has a Julian date of 0970 or 97th day of 1970 which equates to April 7th. To add, my other numbers matching W-31 I sold a few years back had a car build date of 03B (2nd week of March) and the carb. had a Julian date of 0540 or 54th day of 70'. I believe there were way more production dates for W-30/31 carbs, then just four or five like the intakes. You got to remember the intakes had no moving parts, were as carbs. had many, many parts for things to go bad and need replacement!
