I need help....my 70 toro has been sitting for 4 years....put gas in, new battery and fuel filter starts and runs great....after driving for a week now in the morning it will start but die immediately then will only crank....if I give it a shot of starting fluid it will start and run fine and after its warm it will start and run....now it's getting hard to start when warm without starting fluid..... Thanks

I would start with going over the tuneup settings, replace what's worn.

Sounds like your carb is out of adjustment(choke). I would also check out the timing and pointss

1) Fuel pump, 2) tank or carb fuel filter, 3) crap in the carb.

Put a metal-bodied 3/8" inline fuel filter in the fuel pump suction line and keep a couple spares in the car. If there's crap in the tank it will catch it before it gets in the new pump and carb. It'll be the easiest filter to access when it needs changing.

Replace all rubber hoses, flush out the steel lines and add an inline filter.

You need to check also the operation of the choke and choke pulloff, lube carb linkages and observe that your carb accelerator pump is giving a full squirt of fuel when actuated.

Troubleshoot before doing unnecessary work. Did you narrow it down to being a fuel issue? Was the old fuel in the tank varnished?
