1970 Power Disc Brakes conversion to Manual Front Disc Brakes?

Probably the opposite scenario that most like to go to, but I'd like to convert from power front discs to manual disc brakes.

What's needed? I have a spare EB master cylinder (the MC connected to the brake booster on the car is a replacement).

Is the distribution block on the frame the same?

Clevis different?

I need to replace the front line at the cradle regardless but I believe that's the same.

What about the proportioning valve?

You’ll need to change your brake Lines from the distribution block to the master cylinder. Get the correct manual disc rod with clevis. There are two holes on your brake pedal. Be sure to put the clevis in the opposite hole than the power brake hole. I know at one point inline tube made the correct manual disc brake pushrod, cup, and clevis. Hope this helps

My 1970 442 has power disc and it uses the hold off valve rather than a proportioning valve. I converted my 67 GTO and my 66 442 to manual disc using the hold off valve and a manual brake master cylinder for a corvette. I also found a post here that suggested the wheel cylinders were a smaller bore than 4 wheel drum and that is what I did . Works great!

Thanks, all. @442Fred You were correct that James has it in his catalog. Looks like their '70 MC is back ordered, unfortunately.

Is there a way to tell the specific date on the brake booster and if it's original to the 442?

Day of the year is stamped into one of the "tabs" on the outside edge of the booster....the tab near the 11:30 position. Front side is the day and the backside is the partial PN. Pic of one below from a '70. In this case it's a "19". Booster in this pic is taken apart and the tabs are on the back half of the booster.

Helpful, thanks. How do you know if the brake booster is from a ‘70 versus say a ‘71 or ‘72?

I don't know. I guess that would take knowing all the PN's and comparing what you have w/a list of known PN's.

For example, the backside of the tab shown is stamped "1344". That should be correct for a '70 Cutlass/442 front disc car. It's the same as the 4 numbers stamped on the original booster on my '70 W30. I think (not 100% sure) that a '71 booster may be stamped "1942".

I should have considered the part numbers would be different. Duh, Jimmy.
