1970 first generation trunk lid

1970 first generation trunk lid

What would the value be on a first generation trunk lid with factory wing both in exclleant condition ??? Fits 442 hardtop. Thanks. Greg

Deck lid $400 - $600 and original wing probably the same if not a bit more. So together I agree — $800 - $1,400 depending on condition.

How can I spot the difference between a 1st gen trunk lid vs. other? And to confirm, factory spoiler would have the three studs, correct?

What is a first generation trunk lid??? AFAIK the 70-72's were all the same in their respective model lineups.

It is the difference in the underside stamping for the regular two door Cutlass/442. Basically, I think there are three.

1) Early has a flat area under where the wing would bolt through. Although it appears that it does not have any association with the wing.

2) Had a 2" inch circle stamped in it but the circle was not cut out.

3)had a 2" inch circle stamped in it with the center of the circle cut out. And had crinkle marks at the bend of the brace that goes to the latch mechanism.

There was a post from 2012 that had pics but they didnt download for me.

I was at the body shop today and saw #2 and #3 side by side didn't take pics though😧

I thought Eric (jensenracing77) had posted pictures of these different stampings. I just tried the search option and didn't come up with it.

That matches what we were looking at today. Top one represents the lid that came off of my 70 Cutlass a Jan 70 build I believe (will need to double check that) to replace the lid on my 70 442 a July 70 build and looks like the second one. The 442 lid had a lot of rust under the lip/seam.
