1970 firemist paint ????
Looking at 1970 442 with a reproduction window sticker that sy it has Y76 special firemist paint. Car looks to be Rally Red which would be -- on the cowl tag. But what is the firemist ????

Don't be confused. One of a few things is going on here...
The window sticker is incorrect.
The car has been repainted in a different color
The paint is in such bad condition that you can't really be sure what color it actually is.
I would put my money on them in that order.

It's a REPRODUCTION window sticker. EVERYTHING on it is suspect. I fail to understand why people even bother with these, unless they are trying to legitimatize some cobbled-together car. The cowl tag provides the paint code. Unless that's been changed, there's no fuzz on it. Of course, if it has a "- -" paint code, it could have been anything before the "restoration".

I really want to put in crushed velvet seats and dalmatian **** dash cover with the passenger bucket seat reclining option and the vibrator from an articulating bed and make a reproduction window sticker with the "Huggy Bear Entertainment Package."

"Firemist" is a fancy paint that was available optionally on Cadillacs, I believe, and possibly other GM vehicles - usually luxurious in nature, like the Toronado. I do have numbers from the GM Heritage Center on how many 4-4-2s were ordered with this special option (I reckon it's the same as a non-production color but a few dollars more), but unless there's a build sheet, I think it's more likely "- -" would be one of the four extra-cost colors available in 1970.

Correct. Some firemist colors couldn't even be mixed on a mixing system. they came "factory pac" lacquer only. Years ago I had to custom mix a firemist paint for a 70 Buick GS that was special ordered from the factory. ~BOB
