1970 Cutlass Heater Hose Clamps

I am going to install the ribbed heater hoses, with the 70 style spring style clamps The 1970 type with round wire. Has anyone had any issues getting these type of clamps to seal up. Do I need to compress the clamp once installed? Thank you

When I put a new cam in mine, years ago, I dicided to put the correct clamps back on. One end off the radiator hose almost blew off when braking in the cam, so I took the off, and put the band type back on. Maybe I had the wrong ones?

I glued mine on with the light gray Permatex that is sold in the small tube for water pumps and thermostat housings.

No problems with leaking or blowing off. Just make sure to give the Permatex about 24 hours to dry before adding anti-freeze to the cooling system.
