1970 455

1970 455
Just a quick gut check before I possibly sell an engine. (local sale, not over the CO boards)
I have a 1970 455 F5 block, E heads. Block ID# 30X113905.
This tells me it should have been build in KC and installed in a 1970 88/98 if I'm doing my research correctly on it.
It's painted bright red. No brackets/accessories or carb on it, but other than that, it's complete. Looks like it could have been pulled out of a running car last week, but it's been stored in a dry garage for who knows how long. I suspect a decade or more...
Looks to be in good shape, spins freely with the normal amount of drag expected for an assembled engine, but I have never heard it run. I bought it used. Should be a hi-compression engine, providing the internals have not been monkeyed with.
I do know the heads have been off it at some point, as I took off a valve cover & the valve seals are the viton/silicone style with the spring retainer ring around them, and look nice & clean (almost new?) compared to the old plastic top hat/umbrella seals.
Other than that, I don't know anything about the internals. The crank is not forged (I checked the flange) Is there any way to ID any of the rest of it, even if I have to take the pan off? Is anything in there possibly rare & worth opening it up to check it out? Is there a way to tell for sure which pistons are in it from looking in the plug holes? I have it on a stand right now and it's easy to inspect if needed
I have an offer of $400 for it, and I'm tempted to take the money, but wanted to run it by here first. Too high? Too low? About right?
On a somewhat related note... If anyone here owns a 1970 88/98 and your VIN ends in 113905, get in touch with me, as I have (for now...) your original engine!
