1970 442 Water Pump Question

Can anybody decipher a date code on this water pump which I believe is correct for my 1970 442. I assume the 338 is a Julian Date Code but is it the 338th day of 1970 or could it be the 338th day of 1969?

I have a 03C build date on my car.

Thanks

Assuming the pump is original to the car (or any 1970 model), it CAN'T be the 338th day of 1970, because the 71 models were in production then.

Water Pump

It is not the pump on my car currently but one that I am considering to have rebuilt and use for my restoration.

Your explanation suggests that it would a 1969 produced water pump for a 1970 car which is what I was thinking myself.

If you care about exact date codes, this pump is a little early for your mid-March build. Somewhere between 30-90 days ahead is the accepted window.

right
since the year isn't specified, it's any year you want. 1969 in this case.

I just acquired a rebuilt X WP- shall I ck the date for you?

Water Pump

Yes, I would appreciate you checking the date.

If possible, please send a pic of it to dale@ameriken.com.

Octania, Brandon Reynolds is correct, that date code on your pump is the 4th week of March (24th day of the month of March) and his car was built the 3rd week (03"C")!

joe padavano: you would be correct as that was the case before Nov.25/all of Dec./Jan 19th for the 70' model run. After the "Big Strike" we were pumping cars out like crazy. So day codes would be closer to 30 days or and in some cases depending on the part, it could be the day before or day of Final Assembly! Case in point: my "X" water pump on my W-31 has a Jan 31st date code and my car was built on the 21st and 22nd day of Feb. 1970. Also, my exhaust manifolds have a date code of RH 21st and LH 22nd! My car was finished on the night shift of the 22nd day of Feb. This is all documented based on "CFD" shift codes (Clock), casting codes, and "Julian" codes.
