I have had this carb for years. Can anyone give a good value for it? It is complete and runs quite well. My info says it is an original 1969 W-30 carb.

Looks like a chevy carb to me. 69 W30 carb is 7042954. Sometimes the first 2 numbers (7 0) are omitted. Your carb would then become 7022954. The 3rd digit designates brand. 2 us Chevy and 4 is Olds. Your date, 1119 decodes to 111th day of 69 or about april 21st, 1969.

Would a Chevy carb not have the fuel inlet on the side not the front?

Good point. Not that versed on chevy. Just guessing at your "short" number. Where didvyou find it listed for the Olds?

I have an old q-jet book here that says some carbs made in this time frame had the 70 omitted. But you can find 7029254 as a 69 W-30 carb about anywhere online.

It's a correct carb. The second to last number (5) is the Olds designation. Up until 70 they were 702 not 704

Mike. You are 199% correct. Karl Sup posted all the correct info on the facebook posting on this carb.

Ive heard you can make 69 hood hinges fit and work on a 68? Who can ad insight to this? Is it doable? What all is involved?

You have to elongate the holes on the 69 hinge to fit the bolt spacing on the 68 hood. I think daveh did it on on his red car. I started it back when everyone said it was a direct bolt-in, got frustrated because it wasn't, and ended up putting 68 hinges on. I have a set of 69 hinges that are 99% modified but I never quite finished them. Someday I'll put them on. I have dual pattern fenders. Obviously you need that or a 69 fender for the 69 hinge to work.

It must have been posted in a FB group that I don't belong to. I didn't see it.

Did you say you have to have dual pattern fenders for it to work? I will have to check to see if mine are or are not? I have a nice pair of 69 hinges to use if i can do it.

You need at least the 69 pattern. The two hole 68 pattern doesn't fit the 69 hinge at all.

What happened with the Rochester Q-Jets with the short #'s is,the Rochester plant burned and the carbs with the short #'s were made by Carter. The 70 designation means Rochester and those made by Carter had no such designation.

What's the date code say for this carb? Years ago I purchased one advertised as NOS on ebay. It was a service replacement carb with a date code in the mid 1970's. OP, sorry I don't know how to read the codes well enough. But that would make a difference on value, if its an original 1969 date vs. replacement date. John

This post would sure clear that question up. I have for years always wondered about those missing #'s myself. Thanks for that Mike. What year did the Rochester plant burn?

I heard this carb also has a date on the base too but I don't know if it's the same.

It would probably be during the 69 model year run because I've never seen any other year with the short Carter #'s.

It has 3117 on the base but I cannot figure out what that means.....part number maybe?

It's a base from a 68 carb. That's
the 311th day of 67. In 68 the date code was on the base (maybe 69's too, I don't know 69's that well)

I think the base is not original to the carb.
