1969 442 Tumbler replacement..?? help
Ok so my 69 442 didn't come with keys, so i have the new Tumbler/ignition replacement. I have torn the entire steering column apart-wheel off etc.. I still cant get to the tumbler to remove it and replace. The metal column around the steering column that holds the tumbler won't move... ANY help as to how i can remove the old one?? I am working on it today so any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like you're trying to replace your ignition lock cylinder (not the tumblers, which is a different, and much harder, job).
Since you've already got the steering wheel off, the rest is easy.
Just insert a small screwdriver into the rectangular vertical slot in the potmetal portion of the steering column under the signal light switch and pull the cylinder straight out.

Sometimes there is a thin layer of pot metal at the bottom end of the lock assembly removal slot. You have to poke through that thin layer, which is pretty easy to do, so you can get to the area where your ignition cylinder rests. Once you are there, you should be able to depress the spring-loaded lock pin at the end of your ignition cylinder with a screwdriver and then remove the ignition cylinder from the steering column.

You did remove those and use a puller to remove the wheel did you not?
