1969 442 factory installed clock
The original clock in my 1969 442 doesn't work. Can anyone tell me how to take it out and if there is an after market or original clock to replace it?

unscrews from its home in the dash pod
there are folks that redo these clocks with Quartz innards to result in a longer lasting unit, but you get a ticking second hand instead of a smooth sweep. If you can live with this terrible burden, that's a good choice. Check interwebs and/or Hemmings Motor News for clock repair places.

There are two hex screws at about the 4:30 and 7:30 positions on the back side of the pod that have to be removed before the clock assembly can come out through the front of the dash. Those screws are somewhat difficult to get at (especially the 4:30 position as you look at it from the backside, underneath the dash). If you have A/C, it could become a bit more difficult with ducting in the way.
As mentioned before, there are a number of companies that will either repair your clock to original condition, or replace the movement with a quartz movement for more reliability. The company I've used in the past for this and other meter repairs, with outstanding results, is D&M Restoration, 57-B Creekside Park Court, Greenville, SC 29615, phone 800-722-0854 or 864-254-9989. Their web site is www.dandmrestoration.com.

I can install a quartz kit in your clock as long as it is stamped Borg on the back. The General Time versions can not be converted to quartz. I have done several clocks with good luck & can restore the case & lens at the same time. The quartz conversion kit is about $100.00 weather you buy it or I do.
