1968 442 W 30 identification

Hi there, I just got a 68 442 and I am trying to find out if it was a w 30. Ive had a few guys say it may have been but it has the parts sold off it. It was built in lansing. Is there any way i could identify it as an origional w 30. The POP is from the second owner and is a plastic one. Not the origional metal card.

Hope you didn't pay W-30 money for the car. Without any docs and/or the correct parts it's just a standard 442.
Does it still have the original rear? Post pics of the codes stamped on the differential tube.
Post some under hood pictures, maybe other people can make some educated guesses.
Does it have AC or power brakes? 4spd or Auto?

There were less than 400 of the 4477 Coupe cars produced so the numbers are against you..

I didnt pay w30 money for it. I just had some guys at aaca say it might be. Im trying to make it as stock as possible, like it just rolled off the line. G block j heads. 4 speed, no ac, air lifting rear, no power brakes but power steering. Dont know of the rear is original for sure but i believe it is. I just want to know what would tell me it is a w30. It has plastic wheel wells but they are black not red. What do i need to check for to tell me if it is or was a w30? Thanks!

Like said in the other thread, unless you have paperwork, or a numbers matching OW automatic transmission, anything else is bolt-on. There is no magic bullet answer to your question. I know that is not what you want to hear. Please accept the answer this time around and enjoy your 442. Also, it would have C heads for a 442 and D for a W-30. J's are always incorrect.

an OW trans with the VIN number stamped on the transmission casing that matches the VIN on the dash is about the only way to be sure without paperwork

that would be the first thing to look for.there are some other little things like it not having rubber mounts on the front fender extension brackets

if you got it from the second owner, it shouldn’t be hard to find out who the original owner was..try to track them down
