1968/1970 Cutlass fender values

I am trying to figure out if it is worth it to hold on to a set of 1970 Cutlass fenders. The lower rear section of each fender needs a patch (the bottom 4 inches). The rest of the fenders are solid (zero rust) and strait. I don't mind holding them for a year or so but with the after market providing good fenders I just figured maybe I am just wasting space that could be better used for other purposes. Any thoughts?

I also have a set of 1968 Cutlass fenders.

Good clean, rust free, 68 fenders can bring at least $500 each. Ones with rust and a decent inside brace are good for at least $200.

If the outer part is rusted through but the brace behind it is in good to very good condition I'd hold on to it for a while. If the brace is badly rusted, I'd still hold them for a while as I have had people wanting very nice front parts of the fender, maybe one that was other wise rust free that had been hit in the front. Long shot but you never know....

Thanks a million for the input. I'll go ahead and hold them for awhile.

I don't anticipate that original 68-69 fenders are going to skyrocket in value anytime soon because of the new repro fenders that are available. The repro's are priced at about $500 each. I don't think there's a lot of market for them because decent originals are available for about the same money. If the repros came down to the price of the 70-72 fenders (High $300's) I think the price of the marginal original fenders would go down and the good originals would stay the same or go up slightly.

The wild card is I haven't heard one story about how these new 68-69 fenders fit.

Definitely hang onto the 1970 ones if they have the flat inner lip. The reproductions and NOS fenders don't have that - they're the '71-'72 style with the crumple zone ridges.

I am having the originals on my '70 SX convertible repaired with heels from an NOS set that was in a crash. I also bought a '70 fender with the tiniest bit of work done to it for $300 back in December for my W-31. Someone with a '70 will want yours even if they need some repair.
