Who knows Mopar values?

I have come across a very nice 68 Coronet survivor 2 door that the current owner wants me to help sell. Its a bone stock unmolested 318 auto car running driving. Its a very rust free and straight complete New Mexico car. It had a one time repaint of driver quality. I would think it would be the perfect car to build from and maybe make a clone out of. I know what it takes to build a car and this one would easily save someone 10K or better in metal work from the average project car you see.

I have a pretty good idea what I think it will bring but I have never paid attention to what B bodies are worth. Anyone a closet Mopar freak?

I'll go out on a limb..and say 2800-3500. 4200 if its in the top of the category. You don't really put much info into the post to go on. Anyone who's going to clone it will probably ditch most of the stock parts in favor of better HP, braking, handling and trans. JMO.

You posted on the mopar forums? Pics would be good (as you know)

You don't say what model Coronet it is.

I can also post it on a Mopar board for some opinions, but you don't give much info at the moment.

The Old Cars Price Guide lists the following values for '68 Dodge Coronets. As Diego says, there were several flavors of Coronet that year.

Coronet Deluxe 2-door sedan: #4 condition, $2260; #3 condition $5,090

Coronet 440 2-door sedan: #4, $2280; #3, $5130
Coronet 440 2-door hardtop: #4, $3500; #3, $7880

Coronet 500 2-door hardtop: #4, $3600; #3, $8100

Coronet Super Bee, which came only as a 2-door coupe: #4, $7400; #3, $16,650

I'm guessing it's not a Super Bee or you'd have said that.

In this guide, #4 means "runs and drives but needs full restoration" while #3 means "car show quality but not showroom quality -- a 20-footer."

Its real close to a #3 car. No rust ever straight chrome and trim and glass are perfect. Could use a little cleanup in the engine compartment. I forgot to say its low option non a/c 2 door sedan not a hard top. If the car was a Chevelle non ss car its a 10,000-12,000 car easy. A base Cutlass in this shape would bring 7-8K pretty easy. His bottom dollar is $8500.00 and I will get a few bucks for cleaning it up and selling it for him. (he just doesn't want to mess with the tire kickers and dreamers) I was thinking if Mopars brought similar to GMs its going to sell at his price.

You still haven't said what Coronet it is. I suggest you post the VIN and the trim tag, if possible.

It just says Coronet. All I could get was a spy shot over a fence with my camera phone. I hope to have some good pictures soon.

Then that's a Coronet Deluxe. It's rather uncommon.

I think there would be good demand for a rust-free car like that for someone to modify. When you get your things in order, I'd be happy to post it on Moparts.com for you.

Richard, I would think somewhere between $5-10k for a registered driving rig, depending on running condition of powertrain, interior, and paint. Smal block mopars were not all that desirable but to right person...(you're in the car business) there is an a$$ for every seat.

Post it on Cowtown mopar site, you might find a taker there. They are a good group of folks into showing and racing their cars. Or, if need be get me some pics and info and I'll post it on there for you.

Well, I had a buddy sell a one of nine 1970 Hemi Cuda convert automatics for $1.7 million. Try that on for size. He is a work friend. I have not seen him since the sale. Wonder why. KACHING!!!! He is the guy with the 4 1970 W-30 4 speed converts. A mag did a writeup on his Oldsmobiles a while back. Perhaps you guys saw it.

I think 4 grand may be too low. But the Mopar guys are saying $8500 is too high. I guess we'll see what the market determines.

The guys on that site are saying that but I have had other Mopars guys tell me 8000-8500 is where it should sell. I can assure you it won't sell for $4000.00. If some how it could be bought for that I will find a way to buy it.

$8500 didn't seem unreasonable. Its a lot easier to swap an engine than to fix a rust bucket.

Slowdime doesn't seem to have his fingers on the pulse of the market.

Talking with a lot of guys in the Mopar circles 8500.00 seemed to be a little too high unless we wanted to sit on it for a while. I dropped the price to $7800.00 Thursday night and my phone started blowing up Friday. It was sold by 10:00 am and I could have sold it a least two more times. I had a guy in Houston offer me more to break the first deal and let him pick it up Saturday. I still believe a mans word is everything and kept the original deal.

Sounds fair. That is the honorable thing to do.
