1967 Toro Drivers Door will not open!! HELP!
Took my 1967 Toronado out for a ride yesterday, and when I got home the drivers door would not open from the inside or outside. I don't think the inside door panel will come off with the door closed. Any help on how to get the door open short of using a pry bar would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
UPDATE - Got the door open. Needs a new latch mechanism for the drivers door - 1967 Toronado - NO power locks
Any leads on where to find a latch mechanism are greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Tom

I did try the key. Key turns, but lock does not pop up or go down. Button on outside handle pushes in like it is locked. Inside handles also act like it is locked. Pulled up and pushed down on the inside door lock, but nothing....
Any ideas??

a little history...the inside drivers handle has been acting up. Need to pull it 3 times before the door would open, so I just started using the back seat handle and it worked just like it should. Outside handle has never had a problem....until now. All suggestions are appreciated!!

You may have to pull the door panel, which is a pain with the door closed. Years ago I had a 1967 Cutlass with the same symptoms. There’s a spring that’s made out of pretty thin wire that was broken on my Cutlass. Attached is a photo of the inside latch on the passengerside door of a 1967 Toronado. Look at the round piece near the top of the photo, it has this spring around it. The spring is short, maybe three rings and an arm on each end. In the picture its kind of a rusty red. Its possible that this spring has broken on your car. John

Couple of ideas before trying to remove the inside panel which will be a PITA.
Spray WD-40 thru the door gap to try to hit the striker.
Use a slimjim or coathanger inside the door to make sure the lock is up.
Get a partner to push from inside while you pull from the outside.
Try partially jacking from various points on the frame, especially if the door hinges are suspect. A slight change in the flex may help.
Smash out the window and Bo Duke it from now on
