1967 Cutlass Supreme Convertible value?
1967 Cutlass Supreme Convertible value?
I am wondering what my car is worth. The car is a 330 2 speed auto with bucket seats and a console. It is a triple yellow car but now has a white top(couldn't find a yellow one). the interior appears original and it needs carpet. the drivers seat has a couple small tears (they are repairable but the seat cover should be replaced) It is driver quality. It looks good from 20-25 ft. It is an old/amateur restoration. The rear quarter on the driver side has a patch, but it was riveted on not welded. Floors and frame are solid. The car appears to be numbers matching(based on date codes and I was told it was, not sure how to tell for sure). The motor was rebuilt and bored to a 350 about 3,000 miles ago. It has aluminum intake and 4 bbl carb. Electric fuel pump, still is points and distributor, car has manual brakes, aftermarket rims, new tires. the transmission was gone through about 1,000 miles ago. horn doesn't work but all lights, blinkers, speedo, and fuel gauge work. has some small dings and dents bumpers have some dings. Please let me know if any more info is needed. I will attach some pics.
Hi Riskey, welcome here if no one has said that yet.
Nice car. It helps that it's a convertible, of course, and some people love yellow cars. We have a few experts on here on 67s, and I claim to be about half an expert on that year. Using the old car price guide conditions (1-6), I would put your car at a low condition three or a solid condition 4, which means either a Saturday night cruise in 20 footer car, or a driver, respectively, which is how you represented it.
My gut check for a fully restored 67 Cutlass hardtop is 15k. A 442 is 20k. I think a convertible 442 is 30k, and more if it's stick. I'd say a fully restored 67 Cutlass convertible would be worth 20 to 22k, and I think a low condition three car is worth half that, 10 to 11k. Yours needs a little work to bring it out of condition 4, so I'd say it's worth 9 to 10, maybe a little less to some people because of the motor job.
The way you tell numbers matching on a 67 is via the protectoplate and the number on the right head's front pad. If you do not have the protectoplate, the best you can do is use the date codes to get in the right range, then have a probability that it is original.
If you were to sell the car, I'd say ask 13, and take 10 for it.

I agree with Koda on prices! I also would like to say welcome. That is a nice driver you have. If you get old car insurance make the value 15,000 to 17,000 as these don't pop up every day.Better to over value than under when it comes to insurance.
I do not put much faith in price guides, as a car is worth what you can get for it or what it sells for. My question would be what did you pay for it and how much $ did you put into it? If the car was given to you then the starting point for selling isnt that clear. From what I see so far it is a 6500.00 dollar car. Bodywork, paint, interior will cost much if you dont do it yourself. Who knows about mechanicals? Brake lines? Suspension? Bumpers? Has anything been replaced or is everything 67 vintage? Just my opinion and I do have a few 67's...
New top, motor and trans were just gone through. Brakes are as good as manual brakes can be. It is an ax car but the compressor is missing. I had 2 opinions here but neither person was a buyer so who knows 1 guy said 13 but I think that was pretty high. Another said 11 with the new top which I was thinking was close but I am no expert.

Here is a similar car on craigslist, perhaps has less bondo or rot..... Some here perhaps watch too much TV, Barrett Jackson for one...

I also have a friend who is also a member here who picked up an original low mileage white 67 Cutlass Supreme convertible for about 6000. This was just a few weeks ago and it was on craigslist. Drives nice, and really needs nothing. Deals are out there and the deals are what sell unless a person likes to pay top dollar.
I agree w olds maniac and oldcutlass in my area New England that would likely sell for $6-8000.
There have been several of that era cutlasses on cl albeit not convertibles that have not sold in a couple years the ones I have seen ranged from needs full resto but runs and drives for $2500 to nice clean driver for 12500 as well as one nice looking minor restomod for 14500 all still for sale after ~24 months. There are 3-4 listings for well restored 4 speeds including a vert but those are all north of 20 k and at least a couple of those cars are black! Or red!
Your location will affect price some in my area you can't use the car ~5 or 6 months out of the year.

Here's a couple for comparison. These are asking prices see how yours looks condition wise next to these then estimate what it would take to get yours there.

Actual sales on ebay, as shown by Collector Car Price Tracker (which admittedly has it's own accuracy issues) are running below $10K for the last year.

I have seen no 67 verts under 8k in my area which is kansas unless it was junk. Demography i am sure helps lower a car in value. Not going to buy a east coast car may look nice after all rust is covered up.Kansas has rusty cars but far less rust than a east coast car.Carry on with the debate as i have no ideal where the op car is from just going by what i see and pics are not always a good way to judge. The new top and fresh engine and tranny make this car value better if done correctly than one with a untouched engine, tranny and old top.If i could have bought one last year like the op car as nice as it seems to be for 5,6500 it would be in my garage by now. I have two 67 oldsmobiles one hard top supreme and a 67 442 post.
Again, are those asking prices or actual sale prices? Just because a seller asks a million bucks doesn't mean the car is worth that much. I will say that from the little we can see in the OP's photos, the car is worth quite a bit more than $5600. How much more depends on the details and the motivation of a buyer.
