9787050 is the HD 442 spring and would be firm, 9787048 is lighter duty.

This list verifies. http://www.oldsmobility.com/mpc/group7000/text04.htm

I think you chose wisely, I cant locate a part with # 5389 but I did locate the other 2 you listed, matching weight specs you provided.

Looks like 140 lbs is factory HD. Post 12 in this thread, https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...springs-40898/
#5385 has the reputation you experienced. Post 4 same thread above.

This thread may also be of interest to you, particularly post 15. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...springs-36321/

P.S. here is QA1 spring rate information. 1964-1972 GM A-body
Soft is 130, Medium is 150, Firm is 175, https://www.qa1.net/assets/uploads/d...le-Weights.pdf

the 5389 is 12.6 free height. 142 - 737 - 7.5 installed height .554 coil size. getting them from springs&things, someone is making them again. should lower the height 5/8" to 3/4" over the 5385. let you know next week.

hope to get the back down a little

wow what a difference, better ride, better handling and no more wheel hop. it lower it 5/8 of an inch. i will get another photo in same parking spot. wouldn't want it any lower.

Excellent, how sweet it is when you are hoping for a specific result and you nail it.
