1966 442 carb

I have a carb that come with car on a 330 intake, I think. I got no motor with car. Just curious if this could be the correct carb. Here are the numbers I got off the right side stamped into it. 7027157 first row, 2650 second row

The third digit of the 7027157 carb number is the decade (2=1960s, 4=1970s). The fourth digit is the year (7=1967). This is a 1967 Olds carb. PM me if you want to sell it.

2650

265th day of 70...that would make it a service carb

You should take heed here. Joe knows what he is talking about.

That 7027157 could very well be the service replacement carb for the original 400 that the dealer issued for your 66 442 in 1970. Many carbs in 66 have been replaced because of issues and one being a possible eng fire.

That's an interesting point. The 1966 Qjets had some unique "features", including the fuel-based dashpot on the secondary air valves and the weird inlet valve. It would not surprise me if one of those quirky carbs got replaced with a 1967 version that had the more modern features.

If that were a 1966 carb, the fourth digit would be a "6", not a "7". Let's be clear, EVERY SINGLE Olds carb from this vintage was one year only. The seven digit ID number is unique for a specific year and application. Any site or ad that claims a specific number fits more than one year is flat wrong. It may work just fine for a different year, but it was not originally installed there.

but it sounds like it would of been the carb that a 66 would of been replaced by in 1970, because of problems with the 66 carb.

That's possible. It's equally possible that it's just off a different car or somebody got this one as a rebuilt. A lot can happen to a car in half a century.

The 66 carb as Joe has pointed out is very unigue. It is very easy to identify at a quick glance. I will post a few pictures of a 66 carb. The arm for the secondary flap it very obvious on the top.
Hope this helps

Oh and I have these for sale if anyone needs one or two.

I got a round disc one at a petroliana meet for 25 bucks. Dude had no idea what he had, got kinda snarky when I offered 20, so when he wanted to know what it was, I told him.
