Car is up to 44k now, couple funky things about it, white head liner and visors etc. originally a light colored green car was not black. Muncie is later model 660 case..not like thats a deal breaker..who knows if its original engine but its an E block B head 66 with the V T stamping on head. Nice damn car, virtual twin to mine but this one has all the docs and nicer paint..wife says buy it, sell yours..one reason..it has ac..lol.. no aftermarket ac for my car made that I can find.

For a black interior? Mine is all black interior, headliner, sail panels everything. Never saw a black interior with white headliner but my expertise is more gto and firebird..I just checked the auction, car went for 75k.. strong money..

That appeared to be a nice car. There can't be many factory tri carb cars out there. Were the head rests available in 66? I thought 67 was the first year. I hope to put a 66 in the garage one day. I let one get away a few years ago. Timing just was not right.

It's a nice car no doubt but it has some issues for sure. Most are under the hood. No way is this a 75K car. The engine ID # does NOT match the POP,it has the wrong period intake,it has a Cutlass front brake line.not a 442 unit. It has the wrong valve cover breather, wrong horn relay, wrong bypass hose, throttle rod is wrong etc. Again, just commenting on what I see wrong, not bashing.

In my quest for accurate knowledge, a few questions. So the intake is a different date than the build of the car? Like the Az,Au etc tells you that? Brake line, whats the diff between cutlass 442? Throttle rod so your saying its a 4 barrel rod, not the bent tricarb rod from bell crank to center carb? Engine id not match, what you mean? Ithought there was no way to tell other than correct year but no serial number match until 67? Also the muncie is a 660 case, thats like 68 or later.. Appreciate you educating me.
happy NEW year

64/65 all consoles had a tach. 66 all had a vacuum gauge & 67-69 had the 'Rocket" emblem in it's place. If you look @ the 66 we have been talking about, you will see it not only has headrests but also has the reclining passenger seat. The above info on the tach/gauge also applies to the auto consoles as well 64-66. 67-69 auto does not.

so from deduction it appears the car was a tricarb original as per the docs, but at some point the original engine was toasted and replaced or sat, another 4 barrel 400 put in it, then someone finds a tricarb unit, installs it, recreates the car. Sound reasonable?
Mike on some car 66 pics I have observed the front u water hose is crisscrossed with the heater hose on other photos they are not ..why is that? Reason I ask iswhen I put my tri carb on I didn’t criss crossthe heater hose and manifold thermostat hose. Does it make a difference?

Fusick has the correct hose. The clamp is available from them also but it's listed for a 68-72. It's slightly longer than a 66 but is the only option unless you make one. You will need a studded bolt to replace the regular intake bolt so you can mount the hose clamp.

75.5k for non original motor and a color change repaint just seems crazy. Especially a 66. I get it kind of it was an all original car. Almost suspect. Fool and his money I guess. What are the past prices for these?

Thanks for your input and knowledge. Something just seems off on this auction to me. You see seriously nice numbers matching cars that can't even hit reserve these days. No offense to the 66 442 fans but 75.5k wod buy one hell of a real numbers matching W-30. Pretty much Any year.

Don't get me wrong. I love a tri power Olds. I know they are super rare. I love them. This auction to me just seems off. If you are going to spend that kind of money on a rare rare car. Seems to me that after doing all your homework no way you would pay that kind of jack for a non numbers matching. Non original color. Non W-30 car. Not like that car could sit at a MCACN show as original yet it went for that kind of money. Hmmmm....

Thanks Mike.. hope all is well. Your a wealth ok knowledge.. in reference to the cars selling price no1olds fan, the car sold at Barrett I think they said in 2006 for 65,000. I was very surprised as I thought it may hit low to mid 60’s again..however I thought that because I was under the spell it was a correct engine to pop match. Here in Sarasota there is a 66 442 convertible tricarb restored car a dealer has had for some time, it has dropped from 52 to 45k. Very nice car for the money..white..ugh... Mike, beautiful red post car...

All cars are not created equal after restoration. Each car should be judged on the quality of the car,not because it's a conv. or tri carb or whatever. If all a guy wants is a car with eye appeal and is not concerned with correctness more power to him. I sold my car for less than what the car in question brought. My car was better than that car and I'm not bragging,it's just a fact. My buddy made some comments on that car on BAT because he restored one just like it that sold @ the same time @ B-J. Some gave him a crock because of his comments but he was being very honest about the car. They don't know who they were talking to because he is the premiere 66 restorer in the country. He's dome more 66's W-30's included than anybody.
