1966 442 brake pedal return spring

I am changing my manual drum single master cylinder over to a dual MC via a kit from inline tube. My car never had a brake pedal return spring and the shop manual also talks about a stop screw to adjust pedal return height. There is no stop screw or any place where one might have been. Do I just use the push rod to adjust the pedal height and can someone post the return spring size and where I can get one?

Thanks Jim

They don't use a return spring and yes the pushrod can be adjusted.

Like stated above, there is no brake pedal return spring. The pedal height is adjusted with the clevis/rod from the back of the master cylinder.

There is absolutely a brake pedal return spring used in 66. I refer all to the 66 PIM/assembley manual section 5 page 2.4. The spring connects to the pedal pin retaining clip and the pedal support. The part # for the spring is 1374386. The pedal heigth is adjusted by the brake pedal clevis. There is no adjustment on the clutch pedal because the pedal rest on the rubber bumper mounted in the pedal support. There has to be a return spring so the pedal will push the brake switch in far enough to activate the switch. I just remembered that the factory used a ball of dum dum where the return spring connects to the pedal support to make sure it stays in place. I've only parted about a 100 or so 66's and remembered the return spring. I'm glad it was in the PIM because ya'll would called me a liar.

Both of my 66's have brake return springs. I bought them from '4speedconversions'. I just checked and they still sell them, but show out of stock.

I'm not going to doubt, just never saw one on an A body. Sorry for misleading the OP.

Good to know, I had seen the spring in my assembly manual and there are some remnants of dum dum stuck to the top of the mounting bracket where a spring could attach. I'll just have to find a spring that will work in this application. As RandyS stated, there are some good pictures on 4speedconversions.
