1965 Cutlass

I was going to look at what I thought was a 66 Ragtop and it turned out to be a 65? HT.

I could probably get this car but wow it is really far gone; the only thing is it might be free or very near it, I REALLY like the style, and it still has the 4bl whatever motor in it.

Thoughts?

Looks like a '64 Steve. If I had space in the yard, I'd buy it and use it as yard art!

Mirror on the fender of a GTO would make it 64, didn't even think about that.

Well, if you've got the time and space to mess with it I see some parts. The wheel well stainless was used on 1964's and some of the 1965 cars, its hard to find. It looks like the passengerside has the side spear still, also a nice piece of trade stock. You mentioned the engine, even if the block is toast the bolt on items like carb, intake, brackets, etc. are in demand. Your in a dry part of the country, so it looks like the sheet metal may be solid with the paint weathered off but not eaten up by cancer type rust. The rear quarter panels including inner wheel wells are hard to find. If you can move it without damaging these items I see $750 + in parts, then scrap what's left for another $100 or so.

I'd haul it to the house and part it if it was closer to the city. Some good parts there for the 64-65 guys. You might be surprised once you had it on flat ground by how solid it may be. Could be an ambitious project for a young guy.

The one thing that really put a big no to me was the window channels are toast.

I still may consider it.

Any idea what motor and tranny would be in this? I am not an Olds guy and really need help on questions like this.

If it's an 8 cylinder it would be a 330 with a 2 speed automatic transmission.

If it's solid from the firewall back, except for window channels it could be save. But it would be a big project! It would be better to use it as a parts car for another project or sell pieces off it to fund something else.
